Trent & Kelsey’s Surprise Proposal- Asbury Woods Trail

At the beginning of the year, while creating my bucket-list for 2018, I added “photograph a proposal” to my long checklist of hopes and dreams for the upcoming season of business. After getting engaged in 2017, I thought “Dang, wouldn’t it be incredible to capture that moment for someone else!?” Less than 24 hours later, I received an email from Trent, asking me to help document his proposal to Kelsey. The timing was impeccable and we quickly began our planning.

After experiencing a week of sub zero temperatures, just following the snow-pocalyptic Christmas season, I was pretty stinkin’ nervous to hike through the woods in Erie, PA, to meet Trent and his soon-to-be fiancé! Thankfully, we were undergoing a heat wave of 34 degrees on January 8 (which felt more like 64 degrees after the weather we’d been through), and my best friend agreed to come with me for moral support. Thank goodness Morgan was there, too, because I just may have gone into cardiac arrest hiking through the snow alone. A half mile felt like a half marathon that day, but we arrived at the bridge about thirty minutes before Kelsey & Trent began their hike down.

Now I am not a fan of winter, but I honestly don’t think Asbury Woods could have looked anymore beautiful that Monday morning. Snow covered every tree branch and big, fluffy flakes continued to fall from the sky. We waited patiently for them to arrive at the bridge over Walnut Creek, and I grew more and more nervous by the minute. Theo, their sweet golden retriever, was running ahead of and found us first, and the rest of this story is history. Trent and Kelsey walked to the center of the bridge, and he proposed to her in the very same spot they went on their first date, just over four years ago. The woods were quiet, serene and borderline magical. And I swear in that moment, time stood still.

Trent & Kelsey- Words do not begin to articulate just how excited I am for you two! Thank you for allowing me to capture such a monumental, beautiful moment in your adventure through life together. I don’t think I could have schemed up a more perfect location and scenario if I tried. I feel so honored to have worked alongside Trent to make this happen and I am wishing you all the best as you begin planning your wedding and future together! XOXO
