Five things most brides forget

Through all the hustle & bustle of wedding planning, there are little things that inevitably slip through the cracks. Here are five common details (in my experience) that most brides overlook or forget for the day of!

  1. A hanger for the wedding dress– At least you’re not forgetting the dress itself, right? After spending thousands of dollars on a designer gown, you would think they’d include a complimentary Swarovski crystal hanger to display it. Sadly, these beautiful gowns are sent home with brides on a cheap, plastic hanger. Thankfully, Etsy has swept in & saved the day, time and time again, by creating unique, gorgeous customized hangers for brides. Many of my brides receive these beautiful, personalized hangers as shower gifts from friends, bridesmaids, or family. If you are not one of those lucky ladies, a wooden hanger with divots for the dress straps works beautifully! A simple hanger will save the day when your photographer goes to photograph your gown!
  2. The bouquets need to be delivered to your getting ready location– This little detail is SO easy to forget, and it truly is not the end of the world if it does happen! When the bouquets are not delivered to your getting ready location, you often miss out on florals being included in your detail shots. Incorporating florals can add such a colorful, elegant touch to those photographs, and you’ll need them for your bridesmaids photos as well! (Same with the boutonnieres!)
  3. Rings…all three of them! While the best man is infamously the one in charge of rings, it generally works best to keep them all together in the morning. This way the engagement ring and two wedding bands can be included in detail shots. After those images are captured, the rings can be delivered to the best man for safe keeping until the ceremony.
  4. High heels sink into grass. Heel stoppers=life savers. If you’re looking to have natural portraits, walking in grass will likely be necessary. Heel stoppers can save your gorgeous heels (and your bridesmaids’!) from sinking down into the grass with every step you take. Never heard of these magical things? You can find them here.
  5. Natural light is the best light- In my totally humble, completely unbiased opinion… natural light will always be the best light. Having natural light in your getting ready room, especially, is a critical component for capturing gorgeous detail and getting ready photos. Bright, well-lit, clean spaces will give your getting ready photos a completely different look than any artificial light source. If you’re looking to have those “light & airy” photographs in your wedding album, be sure to choose your getting ready location wisely. (Your makeup artist will thank you, too!) I could go on forever about this topic, but that’s a song for another time. I’m sure there will be another Bridal Tip Friday post all about it in the future! 🙂

Most importantly– remember to take time to ENJOY your wedding day. It is so easy to get caught up in all the craziness, and before you know it the day will come and go in the blink of an eye. Enjoy the celebration and soak it all in!
