Curtis and Kate could not have asked for a more beautiful day to have their wedding. (I have said that at least 15 times now, and I will continue to do so until the end of time!) I am not kidding, y’all. It was 70 degrees, the sun shined all day and not a single drop of rain threatened their outdoor ceremony. I only WISH every big day were as stress free as this one.

I have shot many weddings over the past few years, and in that time I’ve learned to cope with emotions pretty darn well. I couldn’t tell you the last time I cried during a wedding I was shooting. I focus so hard {no pun intended} on capturing everyone’s beautiful, emotional, organic moments… that it sometimes isn’t until after I’m culling through the images that I have time to really soak in the day. This wedding was a completely different story. During the first look, I was shaking with excitement. I was nervous and excited right alongside them. I cried when Curt turned around and saw Kate for the very first time as a bride. I cried when Kate’s family and bridesmaids prayed over her before the ceremony. I cried when Curt’s groomsmen laid hands on him and prayed that the Lord would bless their marriage. I cried when Kate walked down the aisle. I cried when Curt’s twin brother, Craig, gave a speech and spoke about the characteristics Kate possesses and how much like their mother she is. I cried when Craig mentioned how Kate had never had the opportunity to meet their mother, but he knew she would be proud to call her a daughter. I cried at how good the sugar cookies were at the reception. Ok that one is an exaggeration, but seriously, I CRIED THE ENTIRE DAY.

I think there is something so powerful about the bond between a family of believers. This day was full of an incomprehensible amount of joy; a joy that is found in Christ alone. Days like these make me realize exactly why I do what I do. I love these people. I love their families. And I loved being able to serve them on one of the most important days of their lives. They were the truest testament to what love is all about. Curtis and Kate will forever hold a special place in my heart; I am so blessed to call them clients and friends.

Yes, people. They brought a Nintendo64 with them on the wedding day. After growing up together, they said it only seemed right to bring a piece of their childhood. SO AWESOME.
