Rachel & Emmanuel. Their love story is far too long for one blog post, and I only wish I could write about these amazing humans forever. It’s creeping up on nine o’clock in the evening, and I promised this post would be up for #WeddingWednesday… so I need to keep this short and sweet. {Yeah right, when has anything I’ve EVER written been short and sweet?} Regardless, I am going to do my best.

Emmanuel (Muvara) is from Rwanda. Rachel met him while working as a volunteer nurse in Africa back in 2015, where he was one of the translators for the medical volunteers. They started off as friends, and over time, became so much more. After moving back to Portland, Oregon, Rachel found herself realizing how much she wished she could be with someone like Emmanuel. Then it hit her… “Emmanuel is like Emmanuel; I should be with Emmanuel!” Their love story officially began, and they got engaged while she was back in Africa visiting last year.

For almost a YEAR, they endured the grueling United States fiancé visa process so Muvara could come to America and FINALLY marry the love of his life. They didn’t see each other for ten months of their engagement, communicating only through text messages and the occasional phone/FaceTime call. Last month, Emmanuel arrived in the United States… after flying on a plane for the very first time ever!

Their story is crazy… but their love is indescribable, undeniable and SO dang beautiful. I know in the images that follow, you will see for yourself how amazingly devoted and head over heels in love these two are. The way they look at each other…it’s literally what dreams are made of. The beauty of these two individuals begins on the inside and simply radiates outward. I love how they trust the Lord with every aspect of their lives, and the ways He has provided for them is the truest testament of His faithfulness.

Rachel & Muvara- thank you for allowing me to capture this beautiful day. This is truly why I do what I do. I live for love stories like yours. It is both an honor and privilege to document the first day of your forever and be able to re-tell your story over and over again. I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful way to begin my 2018 wedding season. I love you so very much! XOXO

This light. This moment. GAH! I can’t even handle it. Rachel decided she needed to take off her shoes after the ceremony & Emmanuel instantly offered to help her. Look at the joy on his face! So candid and so real. He loves her so deeply.
