I'm Hannah B, wedding & portrait photographer based in New York State. I'm a lover of intricate details and story telling- both visually & through writing. Here you will find glimpses of my life as a photographer, wife, dog-lover & Chick fil-A obsessed creative!
It continually amazes me how I can drive 45 minutes in any direction from my home and get INCREDIBLY drastic changes of scenery. From the beaches and vineyards on Lake Erie, to the rolling mountains of Warren County, this area can be pretty spectacular. I often complain about where I live, but when I stop and think about it… summer and fall here are about as beautiful as they come. Northwest PA and Western NY: from May to October, you’re really not so bad.
At this session with Alex and Kenny, Warren County was FOR SURE showing off, but my adventure GETTING TO this engagement session just might forever be engrained in my brain. A typical 45 minute drive turned into an hour and fifteen minutes, all thanks to (arguably) the largest storm of the summer. Tree limbs and power lines were down, pouring rain made visibility and road conditions terrible, and I was rerouted several times thanks to closed roads! I even saw an entire tree dropped on someone’s house. The radar called for a thunderstorm, but it turns out I truly underestimated how bad it would be. I considered turning around at least five times, but I was bound and determined to make this session happen.
When I showed up to meet Kenny & Alex, it was still raining. I think we were all a little doubtful that this storm was going to pass. For some reason, from the very beginning, I was absolutely CONVINCED it was going to clear off. Sure enough- the clouds parted and in a matter of seconds, beautiful golden light shined through, and we basically RAN out into the field to start shooting. The rest of the evening, the weather was PERFECT; absolutely, positively perfect. I kept saying to them, “Can you freaking believe this?!” and, looking back, I’m still a little dumbfounded things worked out as amazingly as they did!
I cannot wait to be part of Alex & Kenny’s amazing wedding at Tuck’d Inn Farm next year! Crossing all my fingers that Pennsylvania shows off in the same way it did this night! xoxo
